Every year, around this time of the month, the end of October through the first week of November seems to be a busy week no matter what's happening. Look at last year ...
Halloween, we were busy Chipotle hopping throughout the Springs. When I say "we," I'm talking about me and my Harrison Crew. Then we celebrated Joy's birthday and then later in the week, the first ever Powder Puff Game at Harrison before finishing that weekend off with our "Hotel Gathering" at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort.
Again, that was last year.
This year, things are a little different. We're no longer in high school, and most of us don't really keep in touch with each other anymore, well at least for me. I did the whole Chipotle hopping as well, except I did it on my own in Downtown Denver. It seemed like that whole weekend, and the week following it, I've been keeping myself real busy with things. Saturday I worked a mid-day shift before getting picked up to head to the Nuggets-Lakers game. This game was special in particular because it was Allen Iverson's last game as a Denver Nugget. Not only that, we got to see Montell Jordan perform, LIVE !! Things didn't end just there though, I got to do my usual window shopping at Cherry Creek before heading home to settle down Sunday. Monday seemed like to be the only normal day of my whole week. Nothing special really went on. I just went to class, then hung out with the crew in the student lounge chillin' and playing cards before heading out to pick some stuff up at the library. Those first two day of the school week that week I was really looking forward to because it was when I had to meet up with my scholarship advisor and my regular advisor about some major problems I had to get fixed ASAP.
After Monday, that's when things began to start happening. My Sociology class was cancelled in advance because of elections. After I dropped off my mail-in ballot, I thought I was going to be late for class, so I rushed to get to my Core Comp class on time. Little did I know, that class, too, was cancelled. So pretty much, Tuesday was a day of relaxation for the most part. The day went by fast too, because I had to work that night. Wednesday, was a day I had been looking forward to for the past couple of weeks because it was the day I planned to come to the Springs for the weekend. I went to class, as usual, then went out to downtown to eat some lunch with some friends before heading back to the lounge on campus to chill. I ended up heading out of Denver around four that afternoon to get to the Springs. I ate for a little while before deciding to hang with Dennis that night.
Thursday, the plans were to go to Harrison to watch the second annual Power Puff Game before going to Brunswick for College Bowling Night. It seemed like every day for this past week, something was going on ya know ?? It was great. On my birthday, I went out with my dad to eat out before going to Anthony and Amanda's house to celebrate Talia's .... or Lia-ta's first birthday. The night of my birthday was finished off with some late night grubbin' at Denny's with Giane and my sister. My birthday seemed to be celebrated again when me and a group of my friends went to Red Robin to go out to eat. We then finished the night watching Madagascar 2.
As many of you know, I just got a new job. Thing is, I haven't started yet; I start next week. I'm not on the schedule till next weekend. So I decided to come down to the Springs to hang out for the weekend. I was supposed to come down on Saturday morning. But with special, special, special thanks to someone, I was able to come here on Friday afternoon. Joy, Darlene, and I walked around 16th Street Mall after checking out my dorm. We didn't know what to get to eat, so after meeting up with Ray, we headed south for the Springs. We caught a little traffic, and we were getting a little hungry too. What we decided to do is to stop by the Castle Rock outlets to grab something to eat. When we got back to the Springs, we did a bunch of things before deciding to do a movie night. We went to Target to window shop and "try" to find some things to buy for my dorm. That didn't really turn out well. We met up with Briana and went to Hollywood Video to choose a movie. Prom Night was the movie we ended up choosing. Other people came by to watch the movie: Jeff, Jon, and Matt.
The next day, Joy, Darlene, and I went to Matt's house to celebrate his birthday. We ate, talked, and sang karaoke there. It was a fun time and the highlight of the weekend. Matt even shaved for the first time. What an accomplishment ayy ?!
I originally was supposed to head back to Denver EARLY Sunday morning, but that plan changed to Sunday Afternoon. Then yet again, the plan changed to early Monday morning. What can I say; I miss being in the Springs. Sunday night, Steven and I gathered up everyone to hang out. BTWITIAILWU !! (inside joke). Anyways, we met up in Wal-Mart before we headed to Anthony and Amanda's place to hang.
This whole week turned out great !! You don't even know. Not only did I come out of the Springs with like 50+ movies downloaded to my external hard drive, I got to spend memorable times with my friends back home.
Thursday
Well, I woke up and my dad told me that he wanted to go eat out, which we ended up doing. Before eating out, I ate a Lunchables while making my video blog for the first half of my DNC break. When my dad got home, we went to La Casita to eat out. Instead of getting the usual cheese enchilada combination plate I usually get, I got the carnitas and steak combination plate. After I got home, I relaxed till about 7:30 later that night. I fell asleep while I was watching TV. When I woke up, it was already time for me to get ready to go to Papa Teddy's and hang out with everyone. I left and picked up Jon before heading down to Fountain, where Papa Teddy's was located. It was the first time I've ever went there, so it was of course an experience. When we first arrived to the place, the exterior reminded me of like a Chuck E. Cheese's or a Peter Piper Pizza's. When Jon and I walked in, we met up with Briana and Gabe. Amanda and Anthony came out during work to greet us and everything as well. Dennis eventually showed up, as well as Keanan, Matt, and Steven. Before we even got our food, me and Jon went up and sang the first song of the night. That wasn't the worst yet haha. After we got our two pepperoni pizzas, which I'd to say that they were the cheesiest I've tasted in a long while, me and Dennis eventually went up there and sang Beyonce's Irreplaceble. WOW. That's all I have to say. This was probably one of the most HARDEST songs I've sang lol. Karaoke at a pizza joint was a pretty neat idea. I had fun and I'm everyone else did as well. Towards closing time, the group of us minus Bri and Gabe (who'd already left) and Amanda, made an acapella of Ben E. King's Stand By Me. It was fun, though not the greatest harmonized performance in the world. Shoot, even one of the workers at Papa Teddy's told us that seeing us sing was the most entertaining thing he seen all day. I don't know if that's supposed to be a good thing though haha. After all that though, when we finally called it a night after sitting around in the parking lot, I dropped off Darlene and Jon and went home for the night.
Friday
The next day, we proposed to hang out at 3 that afternoon. That was the plan. No one really talked with each other till Steven finally texted me to hang out. I called up Matt and he joined us. We decided to go to my place for a short while because our original plan was to do "an acapella" and then later that night, watch Mirrors at Tinseltown with Jeff. That ended up not happening. Instead, me, Matt, and Steven went to Entertainmart for the PS3 drawings they were doing. We signed up for a raffle ticket and chilled out for a little while before going to the mall for about an hour. We walked around, got a double cheeseburger from McDonald's, then headed back to Entertainmart to get ready for the drawing. Psh. The winning number were not even close to any of ours. Man, the PS3 winner looked like he didn't even care. Anyways, we headed out right after that. As we headed out, it started to rain .. HARD. We ran to the car. On the way, my keys fell apart. I ended up losing my purple keychain along with my purple key bottle opener. I was pissed. We called it a day at Entertainmart right after trying to search for my keys. When we got back to my place, we chilled for a little while. Steven surfed the net while me and Matt made an acapella of BBMak's Back Here. Finally, we called it a night after that.
Saturday
It took us a while for us to finally figure out what we wanted to do. I didn't really eat much except some watermelon. I met up with Matt and Steven and Keanan. We chilled at my house for a little while before we couldn't take it anymore. After a couple hours of internet surfing, we decided to go to Wendy's on Nevada to meet up with Jon. Originally, we wanted to go to McDonald's. What happened was that pretty much everything on the Dollar Menu raised almost a quarter. So that's why we chose to go to Wendy's. There, we ate and after sitting around talking in the car, we left to go to Jon's house. At the parking lot, there was a pretty weird moment in which we were talking about funny lines in Harold and Kumar II. It seemed as though this homeless guy heard us lol. Anyways, at Jon's, we ate and chilled for a long while. We socialized and played N64 as well. At the end of the night, pretty much around 1 in the morning, I dropped off Keanan and Steven. Right after, I drove to Denny's near the Crown Plaza Hotel to meet up with Julie, Mav, RJ, and his friend. I didn't eat anything, but I ate other people's food. I ate some juicy bloody steak with some potatoes. Cheaa.
Sunday
Sunday was pretty much my last day to hang out with people. The Sunday started out very slow. I went to Dennis's to hang out with him one last time this break. But it ended up not being the last time because I eventually hung out with him the morning before I left lol. At Dennis's, we just talked about different things before he had to head out to work. Right after he left, I went home to grabbed something to eat. After eating, I drove to Ft. Carson to go to the gym to play racquetball with the Pugh's. As I drove, I kinda got myself lost and Jon had to redirect me to get to the right place. We played a lot of games that day. That day too, we played at interesting version of one on one with Tim serving for me and Jon lol. Anyways, after the gym, I went home for a little while undecided on what to do. I eventually made up my mind and decided to go to the movies to finally watch Mirrors at 10:10 that night at Tinseltown. I still had a couple of hours before the movie started, so I decided to watch some YouTube videos. I watched a couple of tutorial videos on how to do a back flip. The one that got me inspired to finally attempt a back flip on my own was a video giving me very original tips. The video told me to pretty much, "Man the 'eff up". Pretty good advice if you asked me. I went outside and tried it. The first 5 or so tries, I was extremely afraid and in result, my flips were crooked and I wasn't landing them. After I realized that I haven't broke my neck yet, I attempted it again with decent progress. When I finally got one and landed it, it was too dark to see on video. I can finally say though, that I officially landed a back flip.
After all that, I fell asleep and woke up just in time to get ready and leave for the movies. I picked up and met Steven. All in all, the movie wasn't too bad. I thought, in my opinion, the movie had a handful of scary parts. But that wasn't the highlight of that night at the movies. The highlight was that freakin' girl that was at the ticket booth. She was so hot haha. Not only that, the wife, the milf in the movie was also hot. Hence the description I've given her, "milf". After the movies, I felt a little hungry, so we went to the Burger King on South Gate. I got a Whopper Jr. and a six piece cheesy tot while Steven got two Whopper Jr's. What made the food amazing was, of course, the unbelievable Zesty sauce provided by Burger King. We called it a night finally after that.
Monday
Finally, my DNC was coming to a true end. It was Labor Day and I was ready to head back to Denver. That morning, Dennis picked me and Matt up to go to Burger King for breakfast. We ate and talked for a little while. Our time was limited because we had to leave to Denver before noon. Dennis dropped me off after about an hour of hanging out. We headed out soon after that. We went to Sam's Club first to get something to eat as well as my new laptop backpack. I eventually realized that I forgot something at home. I forgot some dress clothes for the REACH Scholarship Meeting that Friday. After we went back home and got my stuff, we finally headed up to Denver. We went to my apartment to unpack before doing anything else. My mom cleaned up my kitchen without being asked to and vaccumed some of the apartment. After I took a shower, we headed out and went to the China town area to eat and pick up some more stuff. After that, I drove us to Park Meadows Mall to look around. My mom dropped me off at the County Line RTD Station and I took that to get home. When I got home, I watched a movie or two and chatted the night away.
For those who don't know why I have this 'break' from school. My school campus is basically being used for the Democratic National Convention. Thus the reason why my school and Metro State and Denver's Community College started weeks before pretty much every other college in Colorado. For that reason, I decided to get away from Denver because of two main reasons:
1. I haven't made friends in which I can just call up on the moment to hang out. I sorta forgot to grab some numbers before the start of the break.
2. Everything's crowded up in Denver; you don't even know. Places are being blocked off. The main place being blocked off is my school's campus. I don't really know Denver's spots to hang so the campus is the only place I know where to hang out at the moment.
Anyways, so the break started for me basically when I headed off to the Springs.
Monday.
I woke up around 9 that day so I could make sure I could ride the earliest FREX bus to the Springs. 9 was a little late because I actually planned to wake up around 8 but I kept snoozing the alarm. As usual, I was waiting for the last minute to do everything. My clothes weren't packed yet and my room wasn't cleaned up. I had dirty dishes scattered throughout my room. Ray called me to come over for a short while to pick up some movies from me. He's the one that gave me the idea for just stuffing all my clothes into just one Hollister bag instead of bringing my huge red suitcase with me to the Springs. I ate a couple of fruits for breakfast and packed some of them planning to eat them for a small lunch before going home.
After Ray left, I started working on my Myspace profile for a little while and finally posted it up on my Myspace. This was my 2nd ever amateur level layout I made using mainly Adobe Photoshop to make and slice the layout. I checked up the times in which the FREX is running to the Springs. I found out that the only choice I had to choose from was the bus scheduled to leave at 12:40 that afternoon. The bus before that I had already missed. That bus left at around 9:30. I had basically no chance to catch that bus lol. When I checked the times up, it was around 11 o'clock so I still had time to spare. I was put on pressure though because not only did I start cleaning up and packing around 11:15, if I were to miss that bus at departing at 12:40, I would have to wait for the next bus which leaves around 3:30 later that day. I was not going to let that happen.
I finally got out of my place cleaned up, packed, and ready to go a quarter past noon. When I got downstairs to the lobby, I double checked with the front desk to ask where the FREX station was. She scared me because she said that the FREX might not be running that whole week because of the Democratic National Convention. Time was ticking because like usual, I was running late yet again. Apparently from the information I received, the FREX bus stop was at the Market Street Bus Station. That would mean I would need to hurry my butt up because the station from my place is about five blocks away. I was planning to ride the 16th Street Mall Shuttle to the Market Street Station, but that ended up not happening. It was beginning to get crowded as well because of the Democratic National Convention. The shuttles were running and I was in hope to ride one to the station. The problem was that all of the shuttles somehow to only be running south bound, which was going the opposite way to the station. SMH. With only minutes to spare, I power walked to the station to go ask for info about the FREX. So I found out that the FREX and RTD were run by different companies so the teller couldn't help me out, Eventually I went to a nearby restaurant and got helpful and specific directions to the FREX bus stop.
When I finally got to the bus stop, the FREX bus happened to just arrive at the same time. It was an experience to ride that bus. It was amazing actually. The ride was comfortable because of the shock absorbers for it as well as the nice cool air conditioning being provided. For $9 for a trip from Downtown Denver to Downtown Colorado Springs, that's not too bad. At first, I thought I was going to be the only person riding the FREX down south cause I was the only one to board at that bus stop. But eventually, by the time we got to the Alameda FREX bus stop, we had almost a full bus. It sucked cause I had to share my seat with some guy all the way until the bus stop at the Castle Rock Outlets. During that whole ride, I was hoping to get as much reading done as I can. Defining Memories, the book I was reading actually wasn't getting too bad as I headed near the Springs. Instead of using the free wifi provided on the bus, I decided to try and read the whole bus ride. I was sort of successful with that. I was able to read almost 30 pages. That may not seem much, but with how fast I was reading that book back in Denver, it was a huge improvement.
When I finally arrived at the bus stop on South Tejon near Downtown, my dad and my mom wasn't picking up. I didn't want to stand around at the bus stop. I felt tired and exhausted. So I rode the free downtown bus shuttle to Kiowa and Tejon. From there, I walked a block or two to the downtown's public library. I finished up reading as well as eating a couple of apples. My dad eventually came and picked me up. We went to China Doll to pick up a bunch of food from my mom and we then went straight home. There, I ate till I bloated and started stocking up on movies and everything I can download. I didn't really do anything else that night. None of the hanging out happened till the next day.
Tuesday.
The lechon and the sinigang from last night had me stuffed. I slept good because of it. I didn't anything much other than sit at home and go on the computer. Around noon, I went over to Dennis's house to hang out before he had to go to class. We sat around and socialized for a couple of hours. He also showed me a HUGE spider that I thought looked like a brown recluse spider, which so happens to be found in Colorado. Just looking at the spider was scary enough. Woah. Dennis got hungry. So as we were watching the movie Arachnophobia, Dennis made a nice looking chicken sandwich with sharp cheddar cheese while I ate a thick slice of that same sharp cheddar cheese. It was pretty tasty.
Once I headed out, I went back to the house to chill and relax for a little while before heading to $1.25 Scoop that night. I went there to meet up with Jon first at Target. There, I went to look around for a little before heading to Baskin Robbins. I was looking to see if they had rim replacements for my bike. A day or two before I headed to the Springs, I caught yet another flat while I was biking around the Cherry Creek area. I eventually found out my fact of the day. So I had a feeling that I needed the long strip of rubber on the inner most part of the rim to prevent my tire from catching a flat because it helps keep the inner tube in place. So I figured I probably have to go to a dedicated bike store to pick something like that up which I will have to do within the next couple of days.
On the way to Baskin Robbins, we met up with Keanan and Matt. I got some cherry jubilee ice cream on a cone and Steven got a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a cup. We chilled in Baskin Robbins for a short while before we went outside. It was so weird because we were having the most random and not-so-normal subject during our two hour long conversation. We talked about things from dreams all the way to things like the different ways to pick out your wedgies without catching any attention. We finally called it a night around the time Baskin Robbins closed. I gave Steven a ride home before going home myself. At home, I did the usual things like download movies and surf the net. I also did the beginning processes with my third Myspace profile layout on Adobe Photoshop CS3. I stuck with that as well as watching a movie on TV while chatting online with some friends before finally calling it a night.
Wednesday.
I started the morning chilling on the computer and staying in the house. Brian came over a little later to hang out for an hour or two. We socialized for a little while before he headed out and I left to the Citadel Mall to meet up with Joy. Prior to leaving, I took a shower and got ready as well as ate a delightful lunch. I ate a bowl of rice with some corned beef. I ended up running a little late to the mall because of that. When I got there, I met up with Joy at near Aeropostale. She apparently walked and browsed through five different stores while she was waiting for me. I need to seriously get better with my time management because all week, during my stay in the Springs so far, I've been running late most of the time. Anyways, for about an hour or so, I helped her out with some shoe shopping. It took us a while for her to finally choose something at Lady's Foot Locker and Journey's.
After the mall, Joy wanted to drop by the Wal Mart down the street because she was looking for a planner. I guess what happened, what that UCCS, the school Joy goes to, didn't give her a planner at all. I was assuming that they were going to give her one during her freshman orientation, but I guess they didn't. Again, it took us a short while for Joy to choose what to buy. She debated between numerous planner until she finally chose one lol. During that time, we also picked up snacks and food for her to bring during class. I tried helping her out by choosing to buy in bulk so she could save money. She was choosing to buy the individual lemonade packets instead of buying a huge pack of lemonade powder for almost the same price. Joy argued about convenience over price. SMH. Anyways, after Wal Mart and the mall, we parted ways and said our goodbyes.
I then drove to Steven's place to pick him up so we could hang out. We decided to go to my house to plan what to do that night. There, couldn't figure out what to do for hours and hours. We sat there watching TV and staying on the computer before Jon finally called me with plans to go to the Ft. Carson gym to go play some racquetball. I thought I was going to drive. But what ended up happening was that Jon, along with his mother and his brother, Tim, came to my house to pick us up. We first went to go to Steven's to go pick up his ID because he forgot it. Right after, we went to Darlene's place to go pick her up before finally being able to get on post to the gym. We got there around 9. The gym was to close in about an hour, so we had to be quick about playing. I went and changed into my gym clothes and went straight to the racquetball courts.
We played three games in total. Everyone that came except Steven and Mrs. Pugh played that night. The first game was me and Jon vs. Tim and Darlene. The two of us came out as victors. The second game I play with Darlene as my partner. Darlene and I came out as victors for that game. The last game we played, I had Tim as my partner. Jon and Darlene came out of this game as the winners. During that whole time, I ended up getting hit by the ball a lot. I got hit on the back of the head and on the arm. Darlene got hit or almost hit by the ball many times that night, somewhat because of me lol. Jon had it the worst though. During the second game, I think, he tried going for the ball running towards the front wall. He ended up slipping as he jumped on the wall and he banged up his knee pretty bad. This night of racquetball was filled with injuries. It was pretty bad, but was also extra fun and exciting.
The night didn't end there though. After we dropped off our borrowed equipment, me and Steven got dropped off at my house to pick up my car while the Jon and his family went to go drop off Darlene and go home. I got a couple of downloads ready and had a short conversation with Dennis before heading out to Jon's house to hang out for a little while. When we got there, we ate a piece of pizza and chilled for a while. That night too, we had more weird topics during our conversation. Tic Tac and Tator, Jon's dogs were also wild as usual. Jon was showing us how Tator smarter than Tic Tac. He showed us how Tator responds to "ball", while Tic Tac pretty much just followed Tator and did whatever he did lol. It was a fun night. Before we headed out of Jon's place, we also played three games of Super Smash Bros. on the N64. After dropping off Steven and going home, I relaxed and stayed up till around 4 before passing out to sleep.
Computer time's the only thing I've been doing till I went to 24 Hour Fitness with Anthony, Matt, and Steven. I met up with them around 5:30 instead of the original time that was planned, 5:00. I got there a little early. So what I did before the others got there, I benched a couple of sets to kill some time. We played a lot longer than we thought. We didn't finish until almost 9. My shirt was dripped with sweat. Everything except my bottom of my shirt was sweated up. When I got home, I basically stayed on the computer for a little while before I passed out.
That next morning, I woke just fine. I woke up around 8 that morning to get ready to hang out with everyone. I ate a bowl of Wheaties and grabbed a banana before heading to Dennis's. I arrived at Dennis's on time, 8:45. I waited for the dude to get out of the shower. We then left to go pick up Jon, Jeff, then Steven. The first place we went to was the Chapel Hills Mall. We got there just on time. It was 10:05 when we walked in. We checked out the mall for a little while. We walked around most of the mall. The last place we checked out there was the store, It's Your Move. There was a shocking game they had going on. Compared to the gorilla shaking game at Chuck E. Cheese's, that was nothing compared to what we experienced at that store. For about twenty minutes, the game got addicting. Me and the rest of the others were hooked. There was this other game we also found interesting from the looks of the box. The game was called Dirty Minds. Dennis ended up choosing to cop that instead of the shocking game. The game was alright, but it was a disappointment. Though there were many riddles that were hilarious.
We were extra hungry by the time we left the mall. During that same time, that was when the soreness really kicked in for me and Steven. It was pretty bad lol. My butt cheeks were hurting and everything. It really sucked. Anyways, we left the mall to go to Cici's Pizza for lunch just around the corner. It was a pretty good deal if you asked me. A full buffet for under $6. We stuck around there for a couple of hours before chillin' in my car. After that, Dennis had to part ways as well as Jeff. The rest of us went to my house to relax and chill. I also gave Jon a tour of my house since it was his first time coming to my house. Soon, Jon had to leave too. He got picked up. Steven and I chilled for a good hour or two before Matt arrived. We soon left to the mall to walk around and then to Entertainmart to play some games. At Entertainmart, I ran into Victor and Kevin D. They were as bored as we were. While Steven and Matt played Guitar Hero and Super Smash Bros. Melee, I got hooked on this first-person shooter game, Frontline for X-Box 360. It was uber fun. After Entertainmart, I pretty much called it a night and said my goodbyes.
The title pretty much explains what happened throughout my day today. I woke up around 8 that morning to answer texts from Jon and Jeff about our status on going to the gym. Even though I woke up and responded to them them pretty fast, I fell back asleep. The next hour, I got a call from Jeff that they were on their way to my house to pick me up. It sucked cause I ended up laying in bed for another couple of minutes before actually getting up and getting ready. I went straight to the bathroom to brush my teeth and got dressed. Usually I would go on the computer to do some quick check ups on some stuff, but that didn't happen that morning. As soon as I got dressed, they arrived. So I quickly made a sandwich consisting of ham and pepper jack cheese and headed out in my slippers.
When we got to Garcia, the gym in Fort Carson, we all got our rackets and googles and went straight to the courts. We played a couple of doubles games. But as I found out, two weeks without playing any racquetball had an effect on me. My serves were really off compared to a couple of weeks ago and everything. We all concluded that each of us were off than usual because of it being early and all haha. We played all that way till about 11:30 that morning. After I got dropped off at home, I didn't really do much. I ate a meal and then fell asleep.
When I woke up, I had a huge headache. It really sucked ... Steven called to hang out. But he didn't call me back, so that didn't happen for me. I ended up just sleeping the whole day and through most of the night. I woke up around 11 and luckily my headache went away. I ended up just typing up some blogs and chatting with some peoples on Yahoo Messenger.
I had a lot to do today. Well not really. I just had something important to do for a last minute thing for college. I had one last scholarship to sign up for. It is called the REACH scholarship for engineers. Everything was fine except for one last recommendation letter. Thanks to Coach Rowland, he basically saved my butt by writing me one. I went to Harrison High School to meet with him for the letter. I then drove to China Doll to drop the application and everything to my mom to send it in by mail. A whole bunch of pressure was put off my back after I mailed that in. Even if I don't get it, it'll make me feel much better knowing that I at least tried.
Later that day, I drove to pick up Jon to go to Baskin Robbin's to meet up with Jeff. When we got there, we ended up seeing and talking to Ray. He was there with his Youth Group. For a short while, we pretty much just sat there and talked. The place we went next was to Jon's house to chill and relax. There, we got a chance to catch up with each other and just talk till about 10:00. From there, we just called it a night.
Whelps, I'm three days late with a blog entry for a reason. If you haven't noticed by now, I don't write any blogs up when there hasn't been anything going on. Nothing will be up till that next highlight shows up. And it pretty much did today. The other two days were pretty lonely. With the exception of a Myspace comment or message or two and some texting between a few others within the span of those first two day this week, the loneliness meter's been hot that whole time. So what ended up happening during those days, I stay at home the whole time. Sunday though, I took a bike ride to the gym and Border's to research some material up. Regardless, I pretty much stayed in my room most of the time. Sad. I was on the computer most of the time too. And when I look back at it, I got a lot of work done that was on my little to-do list before I head up to Denver. That whole download the whole internet thing's been going well so far. When I get the chance, I'm finally going to be able to start backing the TV Shows I've been downloading to DVD's. It'll be sweet because I learned how to make my custom DVD's look cool and everything lol. When I said I got a lot finished, that was part of it; the whole download the internet deal. Also, I got pretty far with the whole tagging my personal pictures thing. I probably got more than a thousand tagged between those two days and at the same time, added even more untagged oldies from picture albums and such.
The same thing basically happened the next day as well. I sort of had plans that day with Dollar Twenty Five Scoop and such. Good thing that still went through with thanks to Jon joining me. Before I went to Dollar Twenty Five Scoop, I biked to the gym to do my back/bicep workouts for the day. Once I finished, I started to bike back to the Cheyenne Mountain Plaza. On the way, I stopped by Border's, as usual, to do some more casual reading and researching. Jon called me while I was there. So with that, I headed down to Baskin Robbin's to meet up with Jon for one last time before he heads out to Oregon with his fam. Hanging out with Jon for that time pretty made my day. And that really concludes the happenings for the past three days. Lame huh ??
I had to wake up around five that morning because I lived 64 miles away from the city of Denver. After a nice tasty pancake made by the madre for breakfast, we met up with Victor to go to the University of Colorado Denver for my freshman orientation. We sorta got lost, I don't really know how that was possible considering that college could be seen driving through I-25. But we ended up going there and arriving on time. I didn't really know what to expect when I got there. Right when I walked in, I was greeted with souvenirs and an informational packet with stuff I needed to get taken care of. The first event of the day, we were greeted by a full rack of muffin and other tasty pastries. That was pretty sweet. Before we got something to eat for lunch, we went to the Campus Village to check out the housing. I must say, this is what surprised me the most the whole visit. The dorms there were basically apartments. Everything you would ever need to keep yourself entertained was there pretty much. Wifi internet, pool tables, a mini gym, basketball courts, a laundromat, big screen TV's, video games and movies for check out, X-Box 360 and Wii's for use. It was just amazing. It didn't surprise me though how expensive that place was. I almost back myself out of the college until I found out a risky, but beneficial solution. And for that, I am now officially registered and ready to go to University of Colorado Denver.
Once I got back to the Springs, I had a little over 30 minutes to get myself ready for The Dark Knight premiere. I can't really describe how excited I was for this movie. I went about an hour and a half early to Tinseltown to drop off my car. I then left to go to Target to meet some of the peeps up. The first one that was there with me was Dennis. We got some snacks and then met up with the others: Mav and his siblings, Mitch and Monica, Joy, Jon, Christine, Amanda, Bri, and Anthony. About an hour before the showing, we quickly went to the theaters to get in line. Not to my surprise, there was a line building up at the auditorium we were going to watch the movie at. It was about ten minutes before they actually let us in to get seated. Luckily, we sat at some decent seats. Bri and Amanda sat closer to the bottom. Mav, Monica, Mitch, Joy, and Christine sat all the way in the back of the theater. The rest of us, including Steven, who surprised me by meeting us at the theater, sat in between the two crowds. Though we had to wait like 45 minutes before even just the previews to start, the wait was worth it. I mean granted, I fell asleep through one or two of the movie trailers in the previews. From the get go, even just the first five minutes of the movie did not disappoint. I'm not going to spoil anything about the movie, but let me just say that all the hype about this movie lived up to it. Heath Ledger's performance was simply amazing. For those who haven't even seen the movie and assumed that Ledger's performance couldn't possibly top Jack Nicholson's performance in Tim Burton's Batman couldn't be any more wrong. Throughout the film, the movie kept me up and wanting more and more. I got to admit though, the movie was a bit long ... too long maybe. But regardless, this is the film to see for this year so far, PERIOD.
Anyways after the film, the bunch of us stood outside waiting for everyone else that went to the bathroom. Amanda, Anthony, and Bri ended up leaving right after that. Once the rest of us met up, we found ourselves stuck in a problem. We didn't know what to do after that. We stood there, I guess, for a good 30 minutes maybe deciding if we were going to do anything else. After a good time just standing in the parking lot, we all ended up eventually just calling it a night. What a surprise haha.
Nothing special really happened Wednesday. That morning after eating and organizing more pictures, I actually drove the first time in like two weeks to Garcia Gym in Fort Carson to play racquetball with Jon and his mom. We started playing around 2:30 for about an hour. The games we played with all three of us were actually pretty intense. The last game with Jon especially was one of the hardest games I've played since I started playing racquetball. I went one on one for a last game for the day with Jon. After learning and playing racquetball so many time with him, I've learned to become a not so bad player. Still though, the game was intensely close. People had the courts reserved, so we had to keep our game short. We tried to have the game to a race to 11 instead of the usual race to 15. Towards the end of the game, we stayed in a draw because no points were being awarded because of change of possession. In result, with the score being like 13 all, we decided to call the game a draw because there were people waiting to play in the court.
Right after that, I drove back home to drop off my car to pick up my bicycle to bike to Sinton Park for our planned hang out. Before I left, I packed a ham and pepper jack cheese sandwich just in case I didn't go straight home. When I arrived at the park, I thought I was going to be late. Surprisingly, I was only the second person there. The only other person there was Steven. It was crazy for this guy cause he had to walk all the way from his house. Yahh, that's pretty far. More people started to show up, but unfortunately, no one brought a basketball. Keanan showed up, Then Robert and his cousin showed up. Still no ball though. Finally, Anthony and Amanda and Matt showed up. Both of 'em brought balls so because of that, we were able to start playing a game and shoot around. We play all the way till around seven. I had to wait for a while before I was able to bike home because it started to rain really, really hard. Once the rain slowed down, I biked home and that basically concluded my Wednesday. I stayed at home and finished the night looking through old picture albums and scanning a lot of those pictures.
That next morning, I had to wake up around 9 because I was gonna join Dennis, his two cousins, Sydni and Joe, and Megan to the Valley High Swimming Pool. I really didn't know where this place was at, but when we arrived there, I quickly recognized the pool from my childhood. When we got there, we came like 40 minutes too early. So what we ended up doing is we went to a local Walgreens to pick up some stuff. When we got back, that's when we started to swim. To my surprise, compared to the weather from the other night, that day turned out to be a pretty nice and hot day. It stayed really sunny for about a couple of hours before it started to get cloudy. We left the pool after it started to get really cold and it started to rain. I kinda passed out in Dennis's car on our way to his aunts house for dinner along with Joe and Megan. When we got to his aunt's house, we stayed and chilled there for a little while before eating dinner, which was nachos with a bunch of different stuff on it. They also had two really big dogs. One of the dogs specifically didn't like Dennis. He was like bipolar or something though. It was funny because after he would bark at Dennis, all of sudden he come up to him and start licking his hand lol. Once we finished that, we ate some cherry chocolate ice cream. That tasted really, really good ayy. After dinner and dessert, we all started to play this karaoke game on PS2 consisting of 80's songs and many recent pop songs. The highlight of the night for me was when both me and Dennis hit the high note in the song Take on Me by A-ha. We stayed playing that game for hours before we actually headed out. After we left and dropped off Megan, we went to Tinseltown to pick up our tickets for The Dark Knight showing. That's basically the started of my weekend right there.
