College.
I always used to hear that people end up changing their major once or twice before they find the right one for them. It's not really a major class, but this English II class, or also known as Core Composition II, is turning out to be one of the most enjoyable classes this semester in terms of the work I'm being assigned. I'm also considering it one of the most beneficial classes I've had so far. Anyways, if you didn't already know, I'm a Mechanical Engineering major. It was weird cause, back in high school, my mind used to always be set on studying Mathematics. When it came down to actually applying for schools to attend that next fall, I eventually decided to apply for Engineering instead. Sure, Math and Physics is interesting to learn, and I'm sure that I'm going to stick with it for the rest of my college career.
Thing is though, I think I actually found another interest I could look forward to studying sometime in the future, Sociology. These first few papers, I've been writing on topics dealing with Sociology. And yes, I chose those topics. I actually find a joy in researching for material within this subject and this is probably why I'm enjoying my English class so much. Yes, if you knew me in hig h school, you could probably remember how much I hated English and going to English class.
I think I could say how these general core classes can be beneficial towards our college career; it lets us discover other things I enjoy that I never knew. Who knew I'd have a huge interest in social and economic struggles ?? Who would've really expected that from me ??
I've been telling a bunch of people how much that one Sociology elective class changed my life; it changed the way I think about everything. Shoot, I used to never feel like a victim, but after that Race and Ethnicity course, it opened up my eyes to see how racist and troubled our world is. Maybe someday, after I graduate from UCD's School of Engineering, I can study Sociology as a minor or possibly work up towards a major cause how much it interests me.
